World Cabernet Day 2012

Have you ever tasted Cabernet in any of its forms?  Well you should !  Whether it is a Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Merlot, Shiraz Cabernet,  and so on.  Most of which have their roots in South Australia in one region or another.

Cabernet Sauvignon was one of the first grape varieties in South Australia finding its way up to the heat of the Barossa in around 1840.

Much further south in the Coonawarra, Cabernet Sauvignon happily lays down its roots in the famous Terra Rossa soil.

Travelling North again to the region known as Clare Valley.  The Jesuit Monks have used Cabernet to provide Sacramental Wines across the globe.  More recently St Ignatius from Sevenhill boasts a Cabernet Merlot, Malbec and Cabernet Franc relationship truly born in heaven!

Shiraz Cabernet

Whilst there seems to be a little confusion regarding exactly which day World Cabernet Day actually is.  I am putting this down to the fact that globally we could have a significant time difference and therefore some could be celebrating on 30th August and some on 31st August.

I don’t really think that 1-day makes a whole heap of difference.

The most important thing is to pick up your bottle of Cabernet in whatever guise and drink the health of  a wonderful little grape, which brings us so much pleasure!

We would love to hear your Cabernet experiences…
