Oktoberfest Hahndorf 2011

An activity packed weekend was had by all on The Labour Day weekend 1-3 October 2011.

Hahndorf in The Adelaide Hills, South Australia celebrated the Oktoberfest Festival in true spirit with The Hahndorf  Town Band presenting it’s German Oompah,  Traditional  Bavarian Delicacies, such as Schweinebraten (roast pork), Brezn (Pretzel), Schweinshaxe (grilled ham hock), Weisswurst (a white sausage) and Sauerkraut (cabbage).

We indulged ourselves at The Hahndorf Inn Hotel where we shared a fantastic platter called ‘ A Taste of Germany Platter’.
The menu suggested that it would serve two; we shared between four and still enjoyed the amounts.  Reasonably priced at $59.90 we thought that this represented great value for money.  We washed the meal down with Oktoberfest Bier especially imported from Munich for the occasion.

A leisurely walk up and down the main st in Hahndorf soon aided our digestive systems as did the coffee and ice cream stops along the way.

The weather was kind to us and we drove back to Adelaide (40 mins) full up, sun kissed and happy!  A good day indeed.
